Aikido is a Japanese martial art created by the legendary Morihei Ueshiba affectionately known as O’Sensei. Aikido means “The way (do) of harmony (ai) with energy (ki)”.
At San Raku Kan we practice traditional Aikido. This means our training involves a balance between weapons and empty-handed techniques.
Aikido uses the attackers own weight and strength against them.
It is this which makes it the most effective form of self-defence.
